Alyssa Osorio-Carrillo is in her second year as a Master's student in Education, in Learning Science and Human Development. She is passionate about social justice and researches how culturally relevant arts can activate youth political and civic engagement through healing-centered practices.
Outside of her academic work, Alyssa enjoys sewing and repairing garments and baking sourdough for the people she loves.
Alyssa joined the Student Voice and Leadership Council out of a deep commitment to building worlds rooted in joy, love, and freedom for all. She believes that for our work to have a truly non-harmful impact, we must first tend to our own healing, both as individuals and as collective communities. Through her involvement with SVLC, she hopes to learn from the healing and flourishing journeys of fellow students in her community, and to contribute to building accessible wellness tools.
In her work, Alyssa is particularly interested in how we, as collective societies, can begin to mend the generational wounds that shape our social and lived experiences, in hopes of creating just and equitable futures for all.
