Open to all CU Boulder community members — and beyond.
Mindfulness and compassion practices make a difference in people’s lives. Decades of research — including our own — have proven this. We work to bring these benefits to our campus and community, both near and far.
In the early years of the Crown Institute’s work, we followed our participatory design cycle to create offerings for all of the CU Boulder community — students, faculty, staff and neighbors alike.
Today, the results have taken multiple forms: the Mindful Campus Program 8-week series, a Community of Practice, ongoing Mindful Moments. Each of these have been designed by students, researchers, and mindfulness experts, driven by the best available scientific evidence and shaped by the specific needs and experiences of the CU Boulder community.
We were also honored to learn from leaders whose voices called us to courage and compassion. Rev. Nontombi Naomi Tutu inspired us with her vision of justice anchored in deep insight, while Anthony Ray Hinton’s powerful testimony of hope after decades of wrongful imprisonment awakened a collective sense of resilience and forgiveness.
Alongside Thupten Jinpa, PhD, Bryan Stevenson, Millie Wright, Reggie Hubbard, Solwazi Johnson, and Michael Yellow Bird, PhD, these guides offered profound teachings and mindfulness practices that nurture both personal healing and collective transformation.
“This was a wonderful and supportive experience on campus. I’m deeply moved, grateful, and highly recommend it to others.”
“This is time for me to slow down, connect with community, and learn about different kinds of mediation.”
Opportunities to pause, reflect, and be present.
In these brief, practice-based sessions, local practitioners help us pause, breathe, and weave the profound lessons of mindfulness into our own daily rhythms — turning insight into compassionate action. As part of this series, we are excited to offer mindful walks, movement sessions, film viewings, and rest and meditation practices.
