A collaborative vision

CU Boulder launched the Student Flourishing Initiative to strengthen our ongoing campus-wide commitment to student mental health and wellness. Announced by Chancellor Justin Schwartz in March 2025, this initiative aims to strengthen collaborative, comprehensive, and effective programs and policies that both mitigate risk and promote student flourishing. The initiative is expected to result in a set of recommendations for specific implementation actions and a collaborative plan for assessing impact over time.

The initiative is guided by the Crown Institute’s participatory design cycle — an approach that will center student voice as it draws insights from across the campus community.

“Ensuring student voices help shape our future plans is absolutely critical to creating an environment on campus where students are not only well but can flourish in their academic pursuits and personal lives.”

— Chancellor Justin Schwartz
